SAFRE 2021 COVID-19 Statement

The health and wellbeing of our SAFRE attendees, exhibitors, and guests is our top priority. To ensure the safety of all who attend SAFRE 2021, please note the following updates regarding Covid-19.

The Raleigh Convention Center takes your safety very seriously. They have increased their already-stringent cleaning procedures in the wake of COVID-19 and have received their GBAC STAR™ accreditation. You can read more about their cleaning protocols and commitment to attendee safety here.

On Friday, 5/14/21, Governor Roy Cooper released Executive Order 215 significantly lessening restrictions in North Carolina. Effective immediately, all requirements related to mask wearing, social distancing, and wellness screenings have been lifted and are no longer mandatory for events within the Raleigh Convention Center with fewer than 5000 attendees in any one space at one time.

If you have not been vaccinated, we encourage you to follow CDC guidelines and continue to protect yourself and others by continuing to wear a mask.

The Staff and the Board of Directors for the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association will safely host the Annual Meeting and the South Atlantic FIRE RESCUE Expo at the Raleigh Convention Center August 11-14, 2021. However, it is possible that conditions and guidelines may change. An alternate schedule or a cancelation may be necessary for the safety and well-being for all SAFRE participants.

2021 SAFRE & NCSFA Annual Meeting COVID-19 Liability Release Waiver

The World Health Organization has declared the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) a worldwide pandemic. Due to its capacity to transmit from person-to-person through respiratory droplets, the government has set recommendations, guidelines, and some prohibitions, of which the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association intends to comply.

While the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association (NCSFA) has put in place preventative measures in conjunction with CDC guidelines designed to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, I understand that my attendance at the SAFRE 2021 conference and the NCSFA Annual Meeting at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, NC, in August 2021 may expose me to an increased risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus. Furthermore, I understand that neither the board of directors or staff for the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association nor the planning committee for the SAFRE 2021 conference and the NCSFA Annual Meeting can guarantee that I will not become infected with COVID-19 virus. I hereby acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the entirety of the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending the SAFRE 2021 conference and the NCSFA Annual Meeting and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death of myself or others I may come into contact with and subsequently infect after the potential exposure.

By attending this event, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association Board, staff, SAFRE planning committee, its agents, and its representatives, of and from any claims including all liabilities, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to my voluntary attendance at SAFRE 2021 and the NCSFA Annual Meeting. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the SAFRE 2021 planning committee, the NCSFA board and staff, its agents, and its representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in SAFRE 2021 or the NCSFA Annual Meeting.

By attending this event, I acknowledge that I have read the foregoing Liability Release Waiver and understand its contents; that I am at least eighteen (18) years old and fully competent to give my consent; That I have been sufficiently informed of the risks involved and that I give my voluntary consent in signing this Liability Release Waiver as my own free act and deed with full intention to be bound by the same, and free from any inducement or representation.

This waiver will remain effective until laws and mandates relevant to COVID-19 are lifted.

*Please note, contact information will be used in case exposure occurs and there is the need for contact tracing.
